Make Changes

Camperdown’s inaugural Rock the Clock will be held from October 20-22 and will feature music, dance, fashion, food and cars across a wide range of genres from the 1920s to 1960s.

Camperdown’s Tuniversal group and volunteers from the newly formed Camperdown NextGen have been working together to plan the event.

Peter Daffy from Tuniversal said everyone involved was passionate about the town and developing a community-owned event that would appeal to as many locals as possible.

“Of course we’d love to see lots of visitors to town for the weekend, but our program is very much focused on our own community having a great time in Camperdown,” he said.

“All our planned outdoor entertainment and markets will be free to the public. It’s our vision to really activate the town square, the avenue and Little Manifold Street.

“We want Corangamite and district people to be able to come down the street and soak in the music, food, markets, dancing, cars, competitions and our community hospitality.”

Mr Daffy said ticketed indoor performances were being planned to raise some revenue to cover overheads, pay musicians and invest in the future of the festival.

Jo Williams said fashion, glamour, styling and pampering were all planned as part of the event and even hinted that work was underway to feature an old-fashioned drive in movie.

“I’m so excited. I’ve been so keen to put some work in to make something like this happen and our dynamic group of NextGen volunteers have been able to provide the support that Peter and his Tuniversal group needed to turn this vision into a reality,” she said.

“Kylie Willis and I will be running ‘The Hive’ which will offer a range of services including glamour hair and make-up, styling advice, a brow bar, waxing, nails, massage and more.

“We’ve got lots of announcements to make over the next two months.”
