Slamalamadingdong Double Trouble Slam feat. in Melbourne, 27th July 2017

City: Melbourne

Make Changes

July’s off-season slam, The Double Trouble Slam, gives you the chance to slam in pairs. We’re challenging slammers to produce new group pieces for this one so find a buddy to enter with.

We’ve also got an exciting group feature from the Pan Afrikan Poets, led by the amazing Sista Zai.

The rules are the same as usual, must be your original work, no props, no costumes, 3 minutes (with 10 sec grace period), but this time you’re encouraged to enter as a team of two (or more), and perform on stage as a team. You can still enter solo but we’re gonna give the pairs priority in the draw.

But how does the three rounds work? Well, you can do a group piece each round, or you can throw up one of you to do solo pieces in the other rounds, the only rule is that you can’t throw up the same solo poet twice.

So you could throw up that group piece at the start and then each take a turn in later rounds, or if you’re daring, take turns in the first two rounds and save that group piece for if you get to round 3.

It’s all about us Australian poets getting practice for how the National Poetry Slam works over in the US.

SLAMALAMADINGDONG! Poetry Slam’s July 3-ROUND SLAM!

ABOUT PAN AFRIKAN POETS
Afrika Speaks Back 2017 are the first group of storytellers to take the Pan Afrikan Poets Cafe’s Africa Day Creative Writing And Performance Masterclasses.

They were all already artists doing their own thing from poetry to theatre, film, podcasting and visual art. It’s nice to have found a group to poetry with.

JOIN US for a night of powerhouse sharing, and powerful poetry. Come tell your story.
