Event details are as follows:
Moncrieff Diwali Mela- Festival of Lights
Sunday 11 November 2018
6:30pm-9:30pm
Moncrieff Recreation Park, Bon Scott Ave Moncrieff
This celebration is open to all members of the Moncrieff community and the organising group of Moncrieffians encourage all of you to come down and share their Indian culture.
There will be cultural performances, music, a display telling the story of Diwali Mela, Indian food to share, and drinks for purchase.
The festival is one of lights, so feel free to bring your own torch, lantern, or other lights to add to the festivities! There will be a Rangoli drawings, henna tattoos, and many more activities for all.
Things you need to know for the day:
Parking: Parking is VERY limited. So please use public transport or walk/cycle to the event.
Food: Moncrieff Residents have been cooking up a storm to share their food with you. All food is vegetarian.
Our organising group are also asking people to bring a plate of food to share if they can. This is optional but particularly if you are from the Indian community please help if you can.
You will be able to taste food from a number of different regions in India. There is no charge for this, however if you would like to make a donation for next year’s Diwali Mela you are most welcome.
Performances: Local groups will be showing off their talents during the event. We recommend you bring a picnic blanket and find a spot in front of the stage to enjoy the show!
Safety: This event will contain lots of lights and sparklers. Please ensure you supervise your children and maintain vigilance to ensure safety around heat.
Alcohol: Please note this is an alcohol free event.
