World Music artist Shivam Rath on the 22 string Crystal Slide with international guest artist and Indian Classical Bansuri maestro Taro Terahara will come visit from Japan; touring for Brisbanes Sangeet Mela with Shen Flindell and then across Australia.
Taro Terahara is one of the leading musicians in the thriving and highly competitive Indian classical music scene in Japan. His initial training began from 1991with various teachers Hiroshi Nakagawa a renowned bansuri master of Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Since then he has become an accomplished teacher himself with a knowledge of Indian Music Raga that can astonish even senior indian musicians; and has played and recorded with some of the top indian classical musicians of our time including Anindo Chatterjee and Uzaan on Tabla. He teaches, performs and travels extensively world wide and is also apart of regular Indian Music retreats. His vocation is to bring the beauty and expansion of Indian classical music to parts of the world that have yet to hear it, joining individuals and nations as one.
~ From 1996 he began study under Sitar Virtuoso Amit Roy disciple of Nikhil Banerjee. From 2006 he began touring Australia regularly in large world music festivals including Woodford multiple times. In 2007 he performed with world renowned composer RyuIchi Sakamoto at Lohas classical concert. He has contributed and composed music to many major films including Tezuka Osama’s Buddha’ in 2011, Rurouni Kenshin 2012 and 2014 and major theatrical plays including One Peace and Super Kabuki 2015.
He travels and performs regularly in Japan, India, Australia, North and South America.
Artists he has collaborated with renowned artists such as; Uzaan, Yujitsunemi, Tenzin Choegyal, Anindo Chaterjee
Based on his deep understanding of Indian Classical Music Philosophy he is sharing a diverse range of music that appeals to a universal audience and has become internationally widely acclaimed.
