SSM International “People’s Favourite Brand”, headquartered in Brisbane is one of Queensland’s largest importers of Pacific Island foods.
The company started 13 years ago by James Mishra, supplying goods to Island and Ethnic markets in Australia.
With HACCAP certification and soon to have WQA, SSM is achieving its immediate goals and satisfying customers all throughout Australia whilst supplying to major supermarkets such as, Woolworths, SUPA IGA, IGA, Foodworks, SPAR and various Indian and Island stores.
Company Overview
Since its inception, SSM has continually expanded its product offering to become one of the largest suppliers of Pacific Island products in Australia.
National Distribution Agreements with a number of companies in the last 2 years have seen the SSM business expand to all Australian states.
Growth is being achieved through widening the product range store by store; astute merchandising practices, in-store posters, off location bins, product tasting campaigns and promotional programs.
The company has 3 delivery vehicles attached to our warehouse (16 Nevilles Street UNDERWOOD) and have national agreements for freight and both refrigeration and dry deliveries.
We utilize Partner Distributors in Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales and Victoria.
Product Overview
SSM is the largest importer of Fresh and Frozen taro in Australia, a highly sort after commodity in the Islander, Indian and Asian community.
Other products in the ‘Islander’ portfolio are frozen cassava, taro, roti paratha and Kiwi Ice cream.
In the last 2 years, SSM has formed an alliance with Foods Pacific Pty Ltd and Tri Pacific to secure the distribution rights to the Taste of India Curry sauce, Dhal and vegetarian products and the Tiffin Tuna products.
SSM is developing these markets through top end contacts, sales forces with discipline and product knowledge and the use of a high quality Distributor network.
