A solo performance by one of Australia’s foremost Odissi dance artists, Monica Singh Sangwan.
Margam is a Sanskrit term for a series of dances pescribed in Vedic texts.
It is designed to take the dancer and the audience on a journey, through the cool granite arches of ancient temples, through the fires of incense and worship and finally into the quiet chambers within, to touch the soul.
Monica Singh Sangwan emigrated to Australia 7 years ago on a Distinguished Talent visa. She has performed and taught Odissi for 23 years and is renowned worldwide for her unique blend of warmth, humour, discipline and devotion.
Monica will also lead a 5 day intensive workshop for beginners and continuing students of Odissi dance, on 10 – 14 August.
We are thrilled to be able to present this accomplished Australian artist in the intimate environment of Studio 93 in Byron Bay. Seats are strictly limited, to allow the assembled gathering to experience the full energy of a Vedic Arts performance.
Tickets $25 are available online (there is a 30c booking surcharge).
