Oct 4, 2014. FAA joins with Kokonut Vibe to bring the Fiji and Pacific peoples of Australia and those who love a day out …an event combining Entertainment, Arts, Fashion, Rugby Union, Netball, Food and Music for one day a year to celebrate the independance of Fiji!!
Fiji Day Sydney Festival is a celebration of Fiji and Pacific culture. It’s a major annual event for the Fijian and Pacifica community in Australia and abroad. It is a day where diaspora commune to share cultural moments with family and friends.
A day where reunions happen and connections are made. Over the years the Fiji Day Sydney Festival has developed different areas of interest within the festival including the Business expo, Arts and Craft area, Fashion show, Community and Government services corner. Cultural and contemporary performances are a highlight of the day, showcasing a diversity of dance, music and expression, attracting a cross section of mainstream audiences, generations and diversity of cultures.
Fiji Day Sydney boasts an attendance of over 25,000 per year for 2012-2015 and is bigger than the Auburn Councils’ Festival, the area where Fiji Day Sydney has been housed for the last 3 years.
In 2016 we will broaden business opportunities and engage wider cross-sections of the inner-city artistic communities. We will also continue to provide opportunities arise businesses who seek to market to the Fiji/Pacific market both here in Australia and Fiji. A large segment of our audiences are young people, working adults and families. This provides new opportunities for products and services, that are not specifically Pacifica orientated but looking at promoting to other age brackets and market segments.
Our new location for 2016 will be in Tumberlong Park in Darling Harbour in the centre of the city of Sydney and is the major events and tourist destination also provide opportunities to engage with the wider community.
This provides the Fiji Day Sydney Festival fresh opportunities to increase audience engagement, provide opportunities for related local business and international Fiji based business.
Fiji Day Sydney is a vibrant day of celebration and memorable moments of diverse cultural exchange. It is a space where Fijian and Pacific culture is expressed and experienced. It is also a day where community networks are made and information is shared across Australian and Fijian government, businesses, community and creative sectors. It is an opportunity to promote Fijian experiences and products and also to promote to the Fijian diaspora.
The 2016 Fiji Day Sydney Festival is now managed by Kokonutvibe and Tapastry Tunes in partnership with several organisations incorporating the following areas:
Creative Cultural Arts Expo: Community collectives and artisans making and selling their work.
Pacific Cuisine and coconut food fair: Selling and demonstrating the unique tastes of Fiji and the Pacific.
Fiji Business Expo: Fiji brands seeking to enter and grow their business in the Australian market
Fashion showcase: Featuring unique designs Pacific designers from Australia, Fiji and the Pacific.
Government and Information services: Providing access and engagement opportunities.
Bula Kids space: Featuring fun activities for children and young people.
The event will also feature live performances, including cultural groups, urban acts and celebrities taking you on journey through Fiji, the Pacific and back to Gadigal land. An exclusive
Official Fiji Day Afterparty event is also planned to compliment the day event.
A big part of Fiji Day Sydney each year are the wide range of stalls providing food and non food items and in 2016 we will continue to expand this.
We are committed to working with our stall holders to ensure that we meet and exceed the requirements on the NSW Food Authority food handling standards so that our customers are satisfied on the day.
We have a limited number of stalls allocated in the food area to ensure our stall holders provide superior service and supplies and the same time maximise their profits also.
For those wanting to book a stall please register your interest and we will provide you an information pack with the price list once we are ready to release this in June / July 2016. Then you will need to finalise and make payment in full to secure your stall. Once we have reached our maximum numbers we will be closing registration and payment.

On Fiji Day our mission is to promote the most talented traditional and contemporary Fijian entertainers with a mix of other cultures. One of our goals is to inspire our community by capturing the one love Islander spirit.

Fiji Day Sydney festival is open to all and general admission is free with free entertainment also. There are food and merchandise stalls open from 9am till late for trade.
