Bhangra Down Under – Bhangra Championship Melbourne, Australia
Bhangra Down Under (BDU) is an elite Bhangra championship organised by young Australians. Our aim is to connect communities through art and dance, whilst promoting Punjabi culture within Australia. In just 3 years and we have seen an increased interest towards Bhangra, not just from the Australian Punjabi community but also from people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
BDU was one of the most successful cultural festivals and Elite Bhangra teams(national and international) along with recognised artists participate in this event. It is recorded and broadcasted on YouTube by Harjot Hundal (Gabroo TV) from America, who gets more then four million views on his videos.
Our goal is to promote the Punjabi dance of Bhangra along with Punjabi culture within Australia, and to try to get todays youth involved in the community like never before.
Bhangra Down Under is held yearly, in the last week of September.
