On 9th March, 2010 Group of ardent Shirdi Sai devotees met for the regular Aarati and Bhajans, discussed the possibility of building a traditional Shirdi Sai Temple in Melbourne and to facilitate the freedom of worship of BABA in any form and way similar to the services of Shirdi Temple, India. 
By BABA’s grace a small Baba’s Idol was installed and a prayer room was made available by Founders Anil Kolanukonda and Girija Kolanukonda for regular weekly bhajans. The events of Guru Purnima and the Baba’s Punyathithi for the year 2010 were also performed at the place. The Group decided to form an Association as the support for the construction of the temple increased manifold with the growing turnout of the devotees attending the events.
On 30th September 2010 with Baba’s grace the group was formalized into an Association, “Australia Mission of SAI Incorporated (AUMSAI)”, with the mission to build the Shirdi Sai Temple. We are conducting all events similar to that of Shirdi in hired halls to facilitate everyone attending the events. Temporary/Permanent place of worship/temple run by the Association shall be known as “AUMSAI SANSTHAN AUSTRALIA”. The temple is unique with simple guiding principles, SHRADDHA (Firm Faith) and SABURI (Patience or Perseverance).
Significance of AUMSAI
SAI may also refer to the Sanskrit term “Sakshat Eshwar” or the divine. AUM or Om can be translated as “I Am Existence”, a sacred invocation to be uttered at the beginning and end of a reading of the Veda or prior to any prayer or mantra. The M?ndukya Upanishad is entirely devoted to the explanation of the syllable which consists of three phonemes, a Vaishvanara, Hiranyagarbha and Iswara, which symbolize the beginning, duration, and dissolution of the universe and the associated Gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, respectively.
