Authorities Respond to Large Fight at Sikh Temple – Turlock, California, USA
TURLOCK – Authorities responded to a report of a large fight involving an estimated 100 people at the Sikh Temple Sunday afternoon.
Deputies from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist Turlock Police at about 12:30pm Sunday. Officers with the California Highway Patrol also responded. A large crowd was said to be in a fight and were refusing to leave the temple according to reports. Merced County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to assist.
Many people at the temple were carrying religious daggers during the fight.
Authorities attempted to clear the temple, but a large group refused to leave, early indications suggest. Deputies blocked entry to the temple and parking lot.
Several people were reportedly injured during the altercation and exposed to pepper spray.
Past altercations have revolved around leadership of the temple.
