Since 2008, the Swan Festival of Lights has been setting the Perth foreshore alight with a multitude of colours, rhythms and flavours, providing a stellar experience for all the senses. It is a celebration of the Indian festival Deepavali (Diwali); a cultural festival celebrating the universal theme of light triumphing over darkness.
The Swan Festival of Lights 2015 is hosted by Temple of Fine Arts and Annalakshmi Cultural Centre of WA, and supported by the City of Perth, Healthway promoting the LiveLighter message, and Office of Multicultural Interests.
The festival is a free entrance, family friendly (smoke and alcohol free) event that will be held over 3 days at Supreme Court Gardens, from Friday 6 November and to Sunday 8 November 2015.
The festival will feature an exquisite array of multicultural performing groups, paying homage to the variety of traditions in our diverse Australian community, as well as fostering intercultural exchange. The Temple of Fine Arts International’s vibrant and enriching dance and music performances will also showcase excerpts from their recent, highly-acclaimed presentation of the Indian epic Ramayana.
India is a vast country with rich and varied regional cultures, and this year’s festival will be showcasing the Indian state of Gujarat with the aid of the Gujarati community in WA.
Mouthwatering delicacies by Annalakshmi, exclusive handicrafts by Lavanya Arts, family friendly workshops and activities all add to the fun and festivity.
The festival is also supporting community charities such as Starlight Children’s Foundation and Heart Foundation – Lockinthelove. The festival is primed to once again take Perth on a spirited journey of the senses.
