Saleem Zamaan’s 35th Annual Homage to RAFI SAAB
The Sangeet Mehfil team is delighted to announce Saleem Zamaan’s 35th Annual Homage to RAFI SAAB on Saturday, 8th August 2015.
The Annual Homage to RAFI SAAB has been a key feature of Saleem’s life ever since the demise of his idol in 1980, who he never had the good fortune of meeting in person. He organises this memorial every year without fail – small or large. Saleem Zamaan, an ex-playback singer himself until 1995, is considered one of the best voices among Rafi Saab’s followers, and has won several awards during his career in Bollywood (www.saleemzamaan.com).
This year’s Rafi Memorial has been planned bigger and better, as Saleem has brought together some of Sydney’s finest professional musicians to support his melodious renditions of Rafi Saab’s classic melodies. The ambitious goal is to reach as close to the original music as possible, which is a very difficult task without the Bollywood resources and infrastructure. Most bands who perform the golden oldies find it easier to create new musical accompaniment, as recreating the original feel is not only hard work, but also next to impossible.
The conveniently located venue “C3 Conference Centre” in Silverwater provides an acoustically designed auditorium for 750 music lovers, and promises to offer a unique symphony-feel with Saleem’s meticulously coordinated orchestration. An ambitious initiative!
Saleem feels blessed that acclaimed anchors like Rajeev Chaturvedi, Huma Mirza, and professional singers Pushpa Jagadish and Radhika Rao have accepted his invitation to support him on stage.
All true music lovers are welcome to join us in remembering this versatile playback Legend. Being a “shradhhaanjali / khiraaj-e-aqeedat / respectful memorial” for RAFI SAAB, this event does not include any dances or any other form of entertainment items, but will only focus on the life and times of this great artiste, and his exemplary contribution to the Indian Cinema. Please feel free to invite like-minded friends who might enjoy this musical journey “down memory lane”. This programme is not suitable for children under 10.
We seek sponsors who may wish to support this popular annual event, and simultaneously enjoy publicity through our marketing campaigns. Please contact any one of us from the Sangeet Mehfil team.
Thanks once again to all our friends and well-wishers who have supported our previously successful Mehfils – Rafi Saab 2014, Remembering DEV ANAND, Remembering RAJESH KHANNA, and many other smaller events.
