New Family and Friends Punjabi Support Group Melbourne
Grow, Australia’s own grassroots community mental health organisation, and MIND Australia are proudly co-facilitating a new Family and Friends support group for the Punjabi community. If you are worried about someone’s emotional or social health and the impact on their mental wellbeing, come along to the group. The meeting provides an opportunity to share the day-to-day challenges you face in assisting your family member, and find new ideas and strategies that will help you to deal with your own issues.
The Group meets twice in a month from 4-6pm at the Bhai Gurdas Ji Punjabi School, Gurudwara Sahib Craigieburn (Sikh Temple), 344 Hume Highway Craigieburn Victoria 3064. Mel way reference: Map 180 D1. If you miss the meeting don’t worry, there will be a meeting at the same time and place every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, except on public holidays.
Grow is a national organisation that provides a proven program for mental wellbeing. At Grow we say, “You alone can do it, but you can’t do it alone”. The new group provides opportunities for Punjabi families concerned about a loved one’s emotional, social and mental wellbeing, to share challenges and solutions with one another, and gain support and guidance. It helps them to develop their own capabilities, friendships and supports, to overcome the barriers they experience as part of their caring role, and start living a life full of meaning, hope and optimism.
Grow meetings are free and confidential and you don’t need to be living with the person you support, or need a referral to attend. If you need help just come along and you will be made very welcome.
