“Anagha” means sinless. In general we commit a number of sins by our deeds, words and thoughts which obstruct our spiritual progress. To destroy our sins and to divert us from the path of sins, Anagha Vratam is observed. The details about this ancient ritual are given in Datta Purana compiled by Sage Veda Vyasa where Lord Dattatreya (called Anagha Swami) and his Divine consort Anagha Devi along with their 8 children (Ashta Siddhis) are invoked traditionally and Shodasopachara puja is performed.
This tradition has been revived by Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji in the recent times. Sri Swamiji says “By performing this worship not only is one relieved of all worldly difficulties and miseries, but one is also blessed with prosperity, fulfilment of desires, attainment of spiritual knowledge and ultimately, liberation. It gives peace to oneself and to the world. This ritual’s results are more uniquely beneficial than any other ritual”.
All items needed for puja will be provided and everybody will be personally directed in performing the puja Donations /Sponsorships to support this event are welcome.
