Dr Devina Joshi graduated from Medicine with First Class Honours in 2002 from the University of NSW. She completed part of her physician training at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, and then completed her Advanced Endocrinology training at St Vincent’s Hospital and Nepean hospital in Sydney as well as completing a research year in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She was admitted to the Royal Australian College of Physicians as an Endocrinologist in 2010.
Dr Joshi helped form a transition clinic for adolescents and young adults with Type 1 diabetes clinic in Coffs Harbour in close association with the diabetes educators and dietitians who work at Coffs Harbour base hospital. This clinic sees a large number of patients on insulin pump therapy including women with Type 1 diabetes in pregnancy. There is a close collaboration between the allied health professionals and Dr Joshi in managing the increasing burden of the women diagnosed with gestational diabetes (diabetes in pregnancy).
Dr Joshi is a senior conjoint lecturer with the University of NSW Clinical School. She actively participates in teaching and education of medical students, General Practitioners, as well as doctors and nurses at the hospital. She attends national and international conferences regularly. She has published as a first author in a number of peer reviewed international journals including the BMJ and Clinical Endocrinology.Dr Joshi has Vising Medical Officer Appointments at both Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and Baringa Private Hospital.
