Dr Shahrazad Abdul-Ridha grew up in Iraq and attended Baghdad Medical School, graduating in 1992. She worked in the Middle East before immigrating to New Zealand where she worked at Christchurch Hospital and the Royal Women’s hospital gaining experience in all areas of medicine before commencing her general practice training program. Shahrazad gained her Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in New Zealand and subsequently in Australia in 2006. She was a partner in one of the pioneer GP practices in Christchurch before moving to Australia with her family in 2007. Shahrazad has worked in different areas of Melbourne in general practice before opening Iris Family Medicine. In addition to working with patients in her private practice, she also works in theatre with a retinal specialist on a weekly basis. Shahrazad is a mother of two young adults. She enjoys travelling, attending the theatre and has a special interest in interior design.
