Dr Asif Shahzad is GP obstetrician international medical graduate who was born and raised in a rural area and completed his initial medical training in Pakistan in 2002. Soon after graduation, he moved to the UK and worked in different hospitals and disciplines. Asif started his medical career in Australia as a junior doctor, in rural General Practice in North Queensland, in 2006. He fell in love with rural General Practice, inspired by the breadth of scope of clinical practice, the opportunity to deliver care to most needy and important frontline role of General Practitioners in community care. He trained through formal training pathways and holds fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), Fellowship of Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and DRANZCOG advanced, diploma of Royal Australasian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). He has worked in various rural hospitals and general practices in Queensland namely Atherton, Gatton and Roma. Asif has completed all this training in Queensland and is committed to this area where he lives and works locally.
He enjoys delivering effective and efficient medical services to the community and believes in continued professional skills development and is currently involved in further studies in skin cancer medicine.
He enjoys spending his spare time with his two children, family and friends.
