Uma graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2003. She subsequently completed her internship and 2 years of residency at Monash and Dandenong Hospitals in Melbourne. Uma travelled around the world for next 2 years and worked in various hospitals in The Republic of Ireland.
She moved to Sydney in 2010 and became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She also has a diploma in women’s health from the Royal Australasian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is an accredited provider of antenatal shared care through the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Uma has special interests in women's and paediatric health and geriatric medicine.
