Dr Kanchi has obtained the MBBS degree from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2001. She worked in Sri Lanka as a clinician and a GP and also served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya before moving to Australia in 2005.
In 2005, Kanchi joined the Academic staff of the school of Medicine, University of QLD where she was heavily involved in the clinical teaching/examination program up until 2012. She still serves as an OSCE examiner for the Medical School at UQ.
After completing her PhD at University of QLD , Kanchi moved out west to St. George QLD, where she worked in a variety of subspecialties including Obstetrics, Rural and Remote Emergency Medicine and General Practice. Kanchi then went on to the Royal Children Hospital in Brisbane where she gained extensive experience in Paediatrics. She has worked in many Emergency Departments including Toowoomba Hospital, The Prince Charles Hospital and Redland Hospitals. She then went on to work in the Sunshine Coast where she completed her FRACGP through General Practice Training QLD (GPTQ).
Apart from medicine, Kanchi enjoys engaging in the field of performing arts and sports. She hopes to continue her work in teaching, research and clinical medicine with special emphasis on patient and medical education.
