Temporary Visa categories:

<li>Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188): This is a four year provisional visa available to business owners and investors.</li>
<li>Significant Investor visa (subclass 188): This is a four year provisional visa for people willing to make a $5 million investment in Australia.</li>
<li>Investment Retirement visa (subclass 405): This visa is applicable for individuals over 55 years of age coming from overseas. Investor retirement is considered for self-funded retirees with no dependents (excluding a partner) who want to live in Australia in their retirement years. This visa will not lead to gaining Australian Permanent Residency.</li>

<li>Business Talent (Migrant) visa: Business Talent (Migrant) visas are granted to people with an overall successful business or employment history, either as a business owner or an individual with Venture Capital funding in Australia. <li>Business Innovation and Investment (Residence) visa (subclass 888): This is the permanent stage of the Provisional Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188). Employer Sponsored Visa

<li>Temporary Work visa (subclass 457): This visa allows skilled international workers to travel to Australia and work for an approved business for a period between three (3) months to four (4) years in occupations that are listed in the Consolidated Skilled Occupation List (CSOL). A business will be able to sponsor someone for this visa if they cannot find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to fill the skilled position at their workplace. Employers may be either Australian businesses or overseas businesses.</li>

<li>Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186): The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) results in a permanent visa for the sponsored employee. It is a common way for 457 visa holders to qualify for permanent residence, but has a higher skill level than the 457 visa.</li>

Family Visa categories:

<li>Partner visa: The Partner visa is available to individuals who are engaged or married to, or in a de facto relationship with an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.</li>
<li>Parent visa: Parents are eligible to visit Australia temporarily or to live permanently providing their children are living in Australia. There are many visa types available to facilitate temporary and permanent residency in Australia for parents in this situation. Each of the Parent visas have different visa application assessment criteria. Depending upon the visa, you may be eligible to work in Australia and to access Medicare support and family assistance.</li>
<li>Child visa: Any child that has a relationship with an Australian resident or citizen is eligible to apply for a Child visa. The nature of the relationship can be any of the following: child, step-child, adopted child of an Australian resident or citizen or child whose parents are permanently deceased or incapacitated or any such incident and who have an eligible Australian sponsor.</li>
<li>Other Family visa: Other relatives of an Australian resident or citizen who do not fall into any visa category mentioned above and who meet any one of the following scenarios may be eligible to apply for an Other Family Visa. An aged relative or an individual who relies on an Australian resident or citizen for all or most of his/her financial needs. A relative whose close relatives are all residents of Australia and he/she has more connection in Australia than in the country of his/her residency.</li>

Visitor visas: The Visitor visa is a temporary visa that allows people to travel to Australia as tourists or to visit family. The Visitor visa has four streams:

<li>Business Visitor stream: Eligible for visitors travelling to Australia specifically for business purposes. This comprises an employment enquiry, participating in a conference or negotiating.</li>
<li>Sponsored Family stream: Eligible for visitors coming to Australia to visit their family and relatives. Visitors will require a sponsor.</li>
<li>Approved Destination Status stream: Eligible for visitors travelling in a tour group from the People’s Republic of China.</li>

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) visa: The Electronic Travel Authority allows tourist or business visitors to enter Australia as many times as desired for up to one year. There is no need to mark your passport (label or stamp) and no need to visit the Australian Embassy. The applicant can directly submit the visa application online.
eVisitors visa: The eVisitors visa is applicable for those who wish to visit Australia for tourism or business purposes such as attending conferences or exploring business opportunities. The applicant must hold a valid passport from one of the ETA listed countries. It’s an electronically stored authority for travel to the country.

Work Visa categories:
General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas: The GSM Program is run through the SkillSelect service. Under SkillSelect you must first lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Based on the results of your Skilled Migration Points Test, the Department will then invite you to apply for a General Skilled Migration visa, which include the following visa types:

<li>Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)</li>
<li>Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)</li>
<li>Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)</li>
<li>Skilled Regional (Residence) visa (subclass 887)</li>
</ul>
The GSM Program has several specific features including a points-based system and a requirement to be invited to apply for a visa. In the event you do not have sufficient points to be eligible for a GSM visa you may apply for a Provisional Skilled Migration visa (which is a pathway to Permanent Residency visa), providing you are eligible to be nominated by a State or Territory Government, or to be sponsored by an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
Graduate Temporary visas (subclass 485): The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is a work visa for international students who have completed two years of study in Australia. It can last from between 18 months and four years depending on your situation. It is a good way to extend your stay in Australia and to improve your chances of becoming eligible for a Permanent or Provisional Skilled visa.
