Chami graduated with her Medical degree from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2000. She gained experience in Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Radiology, Intensive care and Ophthalmology by working in the Department of Health in Sri Lanka. After obtaining her GMC registration in the UK in 2009, she worked at the Ayr University Hospital in Scotland as a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology. She later returned to Sri Lanka in 2011 where she trained and worked as an anesthetist until 2013, when she migrated to Australia with her husband and 3 kids. Obtaining her AMC certificate in 2016, Chami started working as a GP in a busy general practice in Canberra. She gained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2018, and joined the Gungahlin General Practice in 2019. Her special interests are Women’s health, Paediatrics, Mental health, and Chronic disease, minor skin procedures.
