A bit about Dr Ashraf... Ashraf was born in Egypt and graduated in Medical College in Cairo. He trained as a surgeon in London. Worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Northampton England. He also trained and worked as a principal GP in Northampton for several years before moving to Australia in 2007.
Ashraf works as a full time rural GP and VMO. He also participates in sessional surgery at St John of God Hospital Bendigo.
Ashraf is a Medical educator and a supervisor of training doctors. He is also an examiner with the collage of GPs.
Main interests are Procedural work, Men’s health, and chronic disease management and health promotion.
Ashraf won the RWAV Rural Doctors award in 2010. He is the Boort footy, netball and hockey teams doctor.
He learnt to fly in country Victoria and achieved a lifetime ambition of holding an unrestricted private pilot’s license.
He also led the local Boort Cycling Team which successfully completed the Murray to Moyne Cycling challenge eight times in as many years. Raising over $150,000 for the Boort hospital urgent care centre. He is a local CFA volunteer. He also conquered the 1300 sand dunes crossing the Simpson Desert on a 4 wheel drive trip to the Australian outback.
