Amala graduated from the University of Colombo in 1998. She was a resident doctor at the various hospitals covering Obstetrics & Gynaecology, ENT and Accident and Emergency . She commenced her General Practice pathway in Colac in 2005. Since completing her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General practitioners in 2006, she has been working at the Surfcoast Medical Centre,Torquay. Amala enjoys the diversity of general practice ranging from pregnancy care, paediatric and adolescent health to managing chronic illness and aged care. Having followed her husband to different places across the world, Amala is glad to settle in Geelong with their beautiful children – a daughter and son and the canine dependent, Leo. She spends most of her free time with her family and provides the taxi service for her children's many extra curricular activities.
