Sulaika Dhanapala was admitted into practice in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1985. In 2001 Sulaika was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia and has been practicing as a solicitor in Australia ever since.
Sulaika has also been a law lecturer at University of Ballarat and Victoria University and the Principal Solicitor at the Central Highlands Legal Centre and the Whittlesea Community Legal Centre.
In 1997 Sulaika played a leading role in establishing NESB LINKS, a community organisation which creates an atmosphere of belonging for Ballarat’s migrant community. She has also played a vital role in the establishment of the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council since 1999, raising community awareness to the issues which face migrants. All her voluntary work has seen her recognised as an integral part of the Ballarat community and as a result has been awarded the following prestigious awards.
