I am Ayesha Asim, a photographer, and a person who feels lucky enough to be able to do what I love to. Beginning 2005, while working on my degree in Fine Arts from The University of Punjab, I realized that it is photography that allows me to discover other things within me… and the pleasure of travelling alone is one of such discoveries. Then I started photo-blogging in 2009 through “Nubes Photography” with no idea where it would go, but something I did as an amateur hobbyist. I also kept attending lot of workshops and seminars, and read about other photographers’ experiences which helped me brush up on my skills.
In 2011, I bought my first ever DSLR Nikon D 3100 during a family trip after losing my old camera. My patience and prior learning helped me capture the right colors and angles in every click. And it was the first time I got to focus on the fact that it is the only the work that would make me happy. The initial hard work it required was not easy though, with a family of two kids and husband.
But the day my photograph got featured in a local UAE newspaper after winning a national day competition was a major stepping stone in my career that led me into eventually doing professional work, but I know I still have a long way to go as I explore other countries.
For me, hard work in going towards your passion is the only key to success of any kind, and in any field. I am discovering more deeply now exactly where I am unique, and I believe that searching for oneself should always be alive especially for artists like me.
