Dr Pratiksha Nirmal (affectionately known as ‘Pia’) joined Guardian Medical in 2019 and is originally from the UK. She qualified in 2012 and gained extensive experience in a number of specialties, before she decided to become a GP.

A warm and personable doctor, Dr Nirmal particularly enjoys getting to know her patients and their families in order to holistically care for them.

Her skills extend from routine GP consultations to a wide range of conditions including Mental health, Chronic Disease Management such as asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure, Women and Children’s Health and Elderly Care.

She has special interests in Sexual Health and Diabetes, having worked in dedicated clinics for both and has also completed a Diploma in Diabetes.

Dr Nirmal is passionate about medical education and teaching the next generation of doctors; she holds an honorary role with the University of Melbourne as an Academic mentor for medical students.

When away from work, she enjoys quizzing, Formula 1 and cricket, which were some of the reasons she decided to move to Melbourne. That and she missed her train to Hogwarts….
