The Thin Green Line Foundation is turning 10! Please join us on July 18 at The Forum Theatre, Melbourne, for a Green Carpet Gala, a night of celebrating all our hard work and many successes over the years.

After a decade of providing vital support to Rangers – helping to defend wildlife and wild places around the world – we’re thrilled to be bringing together all our friends, ambassadors, donors and followers to commemorate everything we’ve achieved together.
On the night, there will be world-class keynote speeches, vibrant music from a variety of artists, and we’ll take a look back at what the organisation has accomplished so far.

Professor Tim Flannery (Climate Council – Chief Councillor)

Professor Tim Flannery is one of Australia’s leading writers on climate change. An internationally acclaimed scientist, explorer and conservationist, Professor Flannery was named Australian of the Year in 2007.

Professor Flannery has held various academic positions including Professor at the University of Adelaide, director of the South Australian Museum in Adelaide, Principal Research Scientist at the Australian Museum and Visiting Chair in Australian Studies at Harvard University in the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology.

A well known presenter on ABC Radio, NPR and the BBC for more than a decade, he has also written and presented several series on the Documentary Channel including The Future Eaters (1998), Wild Australasia (2003), Islands in the Sky (1992) and Bushfire (1997). His books include Here on Earth (2010) and The Weather Makers (2005).

Sean Willmore (The Thin Green Line Foundation – Founder & MD)

Sean Willmore is a former Australian Park Ranger (11 years) and now founder and Managing Director of the Thin Green Line Foundation, and the current President of the International Rangers Federation (IRF).

While undertaking his work Sean has travelled to and worked with rangers in over 50 countries on 6 continents where he has been ambushed, held a gunpoint, charged by elephants and avoided militias. His efforts to bring attention to the dangerous work undertaken by these warriors has won him international acclaim. Using profits from documentary The Thin Green Line, Sean started The Thin Green Line Foundation (TTGLF).

His continual inspiration is from the men and women, the Rangers worldwide, that he represents and who do this front-line work on a daily basis.

Each artist will give a special performance dedicated to The Thin Green Line Foundation in celebration of our achievements over the last decade, and in honour of the Rangers we work so tirelessly to support around the world.

Yirrmal is the “Youngblood” of the next generation of Yolngu artists, setting an example of living in two worlds and balancing traditional and contemporary cultures.

His gripping live performances are something every Australian should experience.

Witiyana Marika is a senior singer and ceremonial leader of the Yolngu community at Yirrkala, Northern Territory, and one of the most significant traditional singers in Australia today.

As a key part of The Thin Green Line Foundation’s launch 10 years ago, we welcome Witiyana’s return at this special celebration.

Singer songwriter Marty Nelson-Williams has been writing, recording, collaborating and touring nationally and internationally for more than 20 years.

Nicky Bomba has built a solid reputation in the music industry via many projects including writing and performing with his band Bomba, conducting the Melbourne Ska Orchestra and playing drums on John Butler’s award-winning Sunrise Over Sea and April Uprising.
