Bala Utsav 2018 in Brisbane, 25th November

Bala Samskar Kendra (BSK) Queensland Chapter, proudly presents: ‘Bala Utsav 2018’ – An evening celebrating Hindu Culture and Heritage on Sunday, 25th November 2018 at the Acacia Ridge State School, Performing Arts Auditorium from 5:30 PM

“Bala“ is a Sanskrit word that has several meanings: “young”, “powerful”, “strength of mind” and “child-like”, among others. In Hinduism, the term appears most often when referring to youth, as in bala Krishna – “young Krishna” ( www.yogapedia.com).

“Utsav” is a Sanskrit word, generally meaning a festival or celebration or any joyous occasion (www.wikipedia.org).

Bala Utsav is an annual event where the students of BSK showcase the knowledge they acquired over the year to the community through drama and dance.

This year, the key highlights of the Utsav are:

* A drama based on ‘Vibhishana Saranagati’ from the great Hindu epic Ramayana.

In the great Hindu epic Ramayana, in addition to the central characters such as Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Sita and Hanuman there are other significant characters. One such character is Vibhishana, brother of Ravana.

Vibhishana stood for upholding Dharma. Watch this amazing drama unfolding in Bala Utsav 2018.

* As this year also marks the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s speech at the World Congress on Religions at Chicago, the students and parents of BSK will also be putting up a play on the life of Swami Vivekananda.

* In addition to the above, there are a number of other presentations, for example, dances, actions songs and vedic chants.

The students of BSK, have put in a great amount of effort in preparing for these presentations, for example, the drama script is memorised and actually spoken by the children (not mimed), so please come, enjoy, provide encouragement and support to the children.

This is Bala Utsav – festival of the children, by the children and for the children. Therefore, BSK has made this event a FREE event for all children i.e. Children 15 years and under enter FREE and eat FREE.
