The legendary underground institution, Checkerboard (formerly Checkerboard Lounge), deliver a dynamic, soulful well of emotion and playful abandon in collective improvisation over classic blues and soul and originals.

Singing drummer Carl Pannuzzo, guitar master Shannon Bourne, Hammond virtuoso Tim Neal and groove bassist Amos Sheenan bring world class musicianship and raw unbridled passion to create unforgettable unique live experiences and get your feet dancing.

Their famed 7-year residency at Yarra venue, the Great Britain Hotel in the early 90s inspired the development of some of Australia’s finest musicians and bands including Powderfinger, Dirty Three, Clare Bowditch, Jet, Spoonful/Rocket Science and Kylie Auldist.

For Leaps & Bound, Checkerboard reunites to pay homage to their Yarra venues residency pulling out some of those classics they became so well known for at the Great Britain all those years ago.
