Dan Poets and Firestation Print Studio : Anthology 2018

Dan Poets and Firestation Print Studio are collaborating to create an anthology of poetry and works of art to celebrate Melbourne’s longest running weekly poetry venue, which started in January 1994. This exciting project marries visual art and with the written word.

The Dan Poets have never produced an anthology that reflects our community, so this is an overdue opportunity. Firestation Print Studio is a community of visual arts who specialize in printmaking – etching, linocuts, collagraphs, drypoints and bookmaking

The Poets will produce an unpublished-in-print poem that fits on an A4 page. Libby Charlton will accept entries up until 31 July at 5pm. Her email is libbycharlton24@hotmail.com. After that, Firestation Print Studio artists will make artworks inspired by each poem.

These original artworks will then be scanned and made into a digitally printed book which will be available to the public.

Copies will be sent to the State Library of Victoria, and to the National Library of Australia.

In addition, a special group of Firestation Print Studio printmakers will make 4 limited edition handmade books on beautiful paper which will be superlatively produced and will also be presented to the State Library of Victoria and the National Library of Australia.
Finally we are planning an exhibition of text and image in the Front Bar of the Dan O’Connell Hotel in October 2018.
