Dr Roopnarinesingh opened the doors to his private practice at Suite 8, The Mater Medical Centre, Rockhampton in 2008 and has been in these offices since that time. The office was professionally refurbished by an interior design team resulting in a spacious and stylish environment for both patients and staff alike. As the father of three girls, pink is a naturally recurring theme and reflected in our uniform, logo, wallpaper and stationery. We believe that these warm, welcoming tones echo our style of practice as we strive to nourish an ethos of caring and understanding.

Dr Roopnarinesingh has admitting rights at the two private institutions in Rockhampton – The Hillcrest and The Mater – offering a complete general obstetric and gynaecology service. We have served the growing community of Yeppoon since 2008 with a monthly outreach clinic and have plans to extend this facility further.

We strive to maintain a traditional obstetric and gynaecology service covering all of our patients during the week with an on call roster on the weekend. We believe this affords our patients the best opportunity to be managed by their preferred obstetrician during labour and delivery.

The nature of private practice is such that you receive a highly personal level of care. We all get to know each other well as your confinement progresses. We have a number of repeat customers and it is gratifying to know that in some families we are now delivering their third and fourth babies. Since 2008 we have delivered over 2000 babies and performed over 3500 gynaecological procedures including hysteroscopies, laparoscopies and hysterectomies.

Dr. Akash Roopnarinesingh qualified from The University of the West Indies and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His special interests are hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and minimal access surgery. As the current editor of the Textbook of Obstetrics, he retains a strong interest in undergraduate medical student education.
