Dr Aruna Abeyratne

Dr S A Abeyratne (Aruna) was trained in Belarusian State Medical University in 1992. After completing the medical training, Aruna obtained post graduate degrees in Family Medicine and Psychology from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Aruna has clinical experience of over 20 years as a general practitioner. He also worked as a rural GP at Port Augusta before he moved to Adelaide. In 2009 Aruna started a partnership with Dr Farooq Ahmad, which has contributed to the present success of Martins Road Family Medical Practice.

Aruna is a fellow of the RACGP. He completed further postgraduate degrees in Australia including Diploma of Child Health and the fellowship exam of RACGP. He has special interests in depression, anxiety management and diabetic care. He is also involved in teaching GP registrars and is a clinical supervisor with Adelaide to Outback GP Training Program. Aruna is fluent in Sinhalese and Russian.
