Dear colleague, I'm Dr. Surjit Tarafdar, a nephrologist based at Blacktown hospital. I'd like to request you to read this message and share it with other doctors of Indian origin based in NSW. We are aiming to create an association of doctors based in NSW of Indian origin. This would comprise of GPs, surgeons, physicians, radiologists, JMOs etc. - essentially a platform for doctors with an Indian background at every level to come together. The association would facilitate networking so doctors from diverse workplaces and specialties can get to know each other which, as I'm sure we all know, can be very useful professionally. Apart from local networking opportunities, the association could also be a social platform for our families to meet and for our children to see our culture first hand through shared celebrations of festivities such as Holi, Eid and Diwali etc. This would also provide a platform to help in case of national calamities such as floods and cyclones etc. back home. Does not always have to be a calamity, in time as we grow more sure of ourselves, we can support or create small projects on health and literacy for the less privileged there.
