Dr.Lachal has been practising medicine for more than 15 years. She graduated in 1994 from Melbourne University with honours and became a fellow of the College of Physicians in 2002. She did basic physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital with advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Melbourne and Western Hospital. She went on to do research in the area of bowel cancer and was awarded a PhD in 2006. Since then she has worked in clinical practice at the Western Hospital and the Broadmeadows Health Service where she has had extensive experience in performing gastroscopy and colonoscopy as well as working in general gastroenterology and hepatology including viral hepatitis and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

She is the mother of 3 children and believes strongly in the doctor patient partnership in achieving good health.

Dr Lachal’s areas of interest include Inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Collitis/Crohn’s Disease), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, carbohydrate intolerance, coeliac disease, Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease, Hepatits B and C, alcohol related liver disease as well as community gastroenterology and hepatology.
