Dr Siddharth Sood Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist Melbourne

Services: Dr Sood provides consulting services at Melbourne Private Hospital, and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) at both Melbourne Private Hospital and the Coburg Endoscopy Centre.

Dr Siddharth Sood is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. He is Staff-specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He undertook his specialty training at the Liver Transplant Unit Victoria at the Austin Hospital, the Northern Hospital, and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

He has particular expertise in the field of liver disease, including autoimmune liver diseases, PBC, viral hepatitis, NASH and is also responsible for management of liver cancer (Hepatocellular carcinoma).

His previous experience includes as a Visiting Medical Officer at the Northern Hospital, and Clinical Fellow at the Victorian Liver Transplant Unit. He is one of the few physicians in Victoria to have covered at the Liver Transplant Unit as the on call medical consultant for the State.

He has  a strong research in liver disease, and has undertaken a PhD in immune function in cirrhosis and after liver transplantation.

At the Royal Melbourne Hospital, he is responsible for the Liver cancer (HCC) service, as well as the Liver clinics. He is also the Gastroenterologist who attends the Porphyria clinic, and has strong collaborative relationships with other departments including the Cardiology unit in regards to patients following Fontan’s procedures, and the Porphyria clinic where he provides specialist hepatology input.

Dr Sood is a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA).
