About Dr Suresh Sivanesan

Dr Suresh Sivanesan completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Melbourne. His speciality training in gastroenterology and hepatology was completed in Australia. He then completed further training and a PhD at the University College of London  while working in London and Oxford in the UK. He has completed a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at St Mark’s Hospital, London. He now works in private practice in Melbourne and at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.He is a gastroenterologist on staff at the Royal Melbourne as well as deputy director at the department of Colorectal Medicine and Genetics.
Dr Sivanesan has sub- specialized in inflammatory bowel disease (colitis and Crohn’s), colon cancer screening and polyp disease. He also has interests in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, obesity and liver diseases. Other conditions that we manage include bleeding, stomach ulcers, abdominal pain and constipation.
