SPECIAL INTERESTS: Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Coeliac, Liver function abnormality, Complex polypectomy, Colon cancer screening, and Irritable bowel syndrome.

Dr Suresh Sivanesan is a staff Gastroenterologist and Director of clinical research in the Department of Colorectal Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne and  completed his specialist training in 2004. After 3 years in London he obtained a PhD in the research into Crohn’s Disease, University of London (UCL).

Finally he was also awarded a scholarship by the Australian body of gastroenterologist (GESA) to train in advanced endoscopy at St. Mark’s Hospital, London.

His areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease, cancer screening /surveillance and small bowel diseases.

He has been in practice in Melbourne since 2009 and strives to deliver compasionate up to date care while maintaining clinical standards.
