Dr Uday Bhatt is a highly experienced cataract and corneal ophthalmologist. He specialises in cataract surgery and can offer his patients the latest technological advances in this field, including laser cataract surgery and intraocular lenses. Dr Bhatt treats refractive errors and is an experienced laser eye surgeon (LASIK and ASLA). With his expertise in lens technology, he performs refractive lens exchange and lens implants to correct refractive errors. Dr Bhatt is also a corneal specialist and treats the full range of corneal conditions, including keratoconus, pterygium and recurrent corneal erosions. His areas of special interest include collagen cross-linking for keratoconus and the latest techniques in corneal transplantation and grafting. In addition to his specialty areas, Dr Bhatt treats glaucoma and performs eyelid surgery.

Research
Dr Bhatt’s primary research interest is in trifocal intraocular lens technology. Through his involvement in a European trial of this technology, he was the the first ophthalmologist to implant these lenses in the UK. He is currently the primary investigator in four international trials of lenses. In addition to writing two book chapters for the leading ophthalmic textbook Duane’s Ophthalmology, Dr Bhatt has 52 scientific publications, is a lead author for a Cochrane systematic review, and peer reviews publications for many high impact ophthalmology journals. Dr Bhatt regularly presents at national and international scientific and industry meetings.
Community involvement and charitable work
Dr Bhatt has been involved in efforts to eradicate preventable blindness in remote parts of India and Bangladesh.
