Expressions of Interest in Melbourne, 18th July 2017
“Love yourself – Strut your thing!” We are excited to announce we are currently taking Expressions of Interest to join our Advanced / Pro Samba Team!
Training for 2 hours on Tuesday evenings from 8:30pm – 10:30pm, the next block of Advanced Samba is running for 10 weeks, beginning Tuesday 18th July until Tuesday 19th September.
As a guide, our Advanced level is suited towards students who have had a minimum of 1-2 years experience dancing Samba, and may be looking to take their Samba to a professional level.
Before admission into the team, we require a trial / audition and would be looking to see the dancer’s skills are at the required level. As a guide, dancers need to have a well executed fast Samba and and to be able to show a level of technical proficiency in their Rebola, Side Samba, Walks / Parading, Footwork and combinations in order to become a part of this team. Ability to pick up choreography quickly is also essential.
OUR TRAINING
The first hour of our training session focuses on tightening the fundamentals for perfection, after all, that’s where it all begins! We focus on ensuring the body is strong and flexible where it needs to be for optimal movement, and ensuring a high standard of fundamental technique is achieved across the team. We also work on new combinations and focus on their correct execution.
The second hour of training focuses on show and performance choreography, in many different Brazilian styles such as Samba No Pe, Afro Samba and Axe as well as fusion styles such as Cabaret style Samba and others from time to time.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Strut Samba have been performing at several events across Melbourne for the past 4 years, including the televised Moomba Parade, Charity events, Stage shows such as Casaloca at Copacabana and shows for Little Brazil, as well as notorious Latin Festivals – September Chilean Festival, Johnston Street Festival and St Kilda Festival each year.
