About Ghana Mazhai

Ghana Mazhai is an annual musical show and dinner organized annually by the JHC OBA Victoria, to support Jaffna Hindu Fund Programme. This year also it has been scheduled to be held on Saturday, 9th of August 2014. Dr.Ratnasingham Srikanthan, an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College will be the chief guest. Jaffna Hindu College Fund Program is an initiative by the Jaffna Hindu College Old Boys Association Victoria to support the school development programmes. While helping for a good cause, Ghana Mazhai is an event that also gives the old boys an opportunity to meet and greet friends and share the golden memories of the college days. The chief guest Dr. Ratnasingham Srikanthan is an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College (1965-1966).He was in the last batch that studied under the famous mathematics teacher Mr Varatharajaperumal. Dr.Srikanthan comes from Kokuvil East and had his early education till GCE (O/L) at Kokuvil Hindu College. He joined Jaffna Hindu College in 1965 for his A/L studies. After sitting for the G.C.E. (A/L) examination in December 1966 and while waiting for the examination results, he took classes in mathematics for the first year G.C.E. (A/L) students for a few months. He came first at the examination and entered the Faculty of Engineering in September 1967. He graduated with first class honours in Civil Engineering and joined the Faculty of Engineering as an assistant lecturer in 1972. He lectured initially in Fluid Mechanics and then Metallurgy.
