Mackay Dental Clinic is a family owned practice, where we try to understand and build long term friendly relationships with our clients.

With  more than 15 years experience  and additional training in performing root canal treatment, periodontal (Gum) treatments, dental implants and Invisalign you are assured to get the best dental treatment possible. We use state of the art technology which compliments pleasant, gentle and pain-free dental experience in our practice.

As everyone knows “prevention is better than cure”. We skilfully apply it in the field of dentistry, we perform many preventive dental treatments to children, adolescents and adults, to prevent major dental issues in the future. We perform dental treatment for members of all private health funds.

We are associated with Australian dental association and regularly attend CPD programs to update our knowledge and skills. When a situation arises… we understand our limitations and make the decision to refer you to the right specialist.

Dr. Sudhir Shivanna

Graduating in 2002, I have always been interested in dentistry as a profession and have had a certain passion towards cosmetic dental care and root canal treatment hence continuing my studies in conservative dentistry and endodontics. Having completed my Masters in 2004, I was proud to have been one of the top 10 in the specialist university examinations. From 2007 – 2010, I was working as an assistant professor in JSS dental collage training dental students. I have been serving Mackay and the regional community since 2010. My main endeavours in work being gentle and precision.

Though I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, I thrive to achieve aesthetic perfection also gaining a passion towards implant dentistry, partaking in further training from an implant institute in Sydney a few years ago. Having successful implant procedures since then using various implant systems including the need for grafting, additionally receiving special training in treating misaligned teeth using Invisalign technique.

I always believe it’s important to be up- to- date about recent advancement and trends in dentistry and therefore have been attending regular training to update my knowledge and to give the best results for my patients.

I fell in love with the simplicity of the people in Mackay, the farming community and their experiences, the beautiful weather conditions, beautiful weather and the huge range of fish species and the numerus spots in which to fish. I love spending every extra minute I find to do them.

Dr. Ashwini C Somu

Hi,

My name is Dr. Ashwini Somu, graduated in 2004 and successfully completed masters in periodontics and implant dentistry  in 2011. I have been serving Mackay community since 2012 after marrying Dr. Sudhir Shivanna.

Along with managing gum disease and treating various gum conditions which is my field of interest and expertise, I Have received special training to do Invisalign and am proud to see many of my patients having beautiful smile.  I love to keep myself updated about recent trends and inventions and hence look forward for every training sessions and conferences, so I can bring back that knowledge to achieve better results in dentistry.

I like to treat my patients the way I wish to be treated and that has helped me to have huge family of patients who are not only happy with my service but also have more personalized relation which we would like to keep it forever.

I absolutely love the Mackay community, no rush culture and friendly people and hence decided to base here, and raise our darling daughter, Miss. Ahana Gowda as part of Mackay community.
