Dear Prem, I need your help to find someone to translate romanised sanskrit into English. I have a text from an interfaith liturgy created by a Benedictine monk, Dom Bede Griffiths, who lived in Tamil Nadu where he set up Saccidananda Ashram and became a sanyassi (www.shantivanamashram.com). In 1994 I was commissioned to compose a capella concert music which I set to the text from the interfaith liturgy developed by Griffiths. The work, entitled Vedic Mass, was premiered in 1988 by a Sydney-based consort called VoiceWorks at Eugene Goosens Hall, ABC Ultimo Centre. It was published shortly thereafter by the Australian Music Centre. In 2022 Vedic Mass will be recorded by Scottish Voices directed by composer, performer and scholar, Professor Graham Hair. Professor Hair has asked me for information about the Vedic Mass, including an authentic and reliable English language translation which he intends to include in the liner notes for the CD. He would be particularly open to including the text in Devanagari script if this still exists. The text is in romanised sanskrit and includes traditional Hindu prayers like the Gayatri Mantra. It came from a mass booklet published during Griffiths' visit to Australia in 1991 but I no longer have the English translation. When I called by the temple yesterday and spoke to Mira I realised that you are busy over the next week so if you could point me in the direction of someone who might be interested in translating the romanised sanskrit into English I would be most grateful. The text in a Word document (311 words, 1841 characters). Translation will probably involve a few hours work for which I am happy to pay. The name of the translator would also be acknowledged in the CD liner notes. This could be a wonderful opportunity for a student of sanskrit. If you know an interested person please pass on my contact details and get them call me (0423120456) or email me (greg@schiemer.com.au) and I will email the document to them. Thank you in anticipation Yours cordially, Greg Schiemer
