Melbourne’s purveyors of the finest country soul THE MELTDOWN, are delighted to be performing at Meeniyan to celebrate the Hall’s 75th year and also the release of their self-titled debut album.
Blending country, gospel and 60s soul, the result is a unique take on Australian soul music and a record full of life, energy and deeply felt storytelling. With influences ranging from Father John Misty, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Alabama Shakes built above a steady foundation of southern soul music, this collection of stellar players have created a mesh of Stax and Motown with a healthy dose of the Nashville songwriting tradition. Making the song the focus, The Meltdown stay true to the common goal of the story and keep your attention on the honey soaked tones of Simon Burke’s incredible voice. The Teskey Brothers. are a group of talented young musicians, thcir influences include Funk, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Rock, even some Latin They unashamedly draw from any style so long as it fits into the overall category of good, they don’t discriminate, loving and appreciating a wide style of musical genres. Modern influences include such artists as Ben Harper, Steve Wonder, Prince, Cody Chestnut, and Cat Empire.
Whilst recent musical history supplies the artistic genius-of Otis Reading, Ray Charles, George Benson to challenge and inspire the young and open mind, the Teskey brother’s love nothing more than to play music old or new and they do it with unique and original style their youth and enthusiasm is a joy to behold
