Malai Kofta Curry- Cheese Balls In A Creamy Gravy

Oh wow!!! You really do need to watch this mouth watering You Tube video on how to make Malai Kofta Curry, I promise you wont be disappointed. I feel so inspired to make this dish this coming weekend, I really can’t wait!! I will also post the video on how to make the crunchy paneer balls, so look out for that one!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil
  • 1/2 a tablespoon of cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon of tumeric
  • 1/2- 1 cup of finely chopped onions
  • Some chopped cashews
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste
  • Red chili powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Garam masala to taste
  • Water
  • Pureed fresh or tinned tomatoes
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup of full cream

Directions

  1. Add oil to a heated pan, then add the cumin seeds, tumeric and about half a cup of onions, stir well.
  2. Add some chopped cashews, ginger paste, garlic paste and stir well. Saute onion until lightly golden brown.
  3. Add some red chili powder to taste, some salt to suit your taste, stir well. Add some garam masala as well, to suit your taste stir well.
  4. Once onions have browned add some water to cover ingredients and stir well.
  5. Turn off the heat then use a hand blender, blend the gravy until nice and smooth.
  6. Add some pureed tomatoes to the mixture to make the gravy, stir really well.
  7. Add a little bit more water, only if needed.
  8. Cover and allow to cook on a low heat, add 2 bay leaves into the gravy and allow to simmer.
  9. Stir and add 1/4 a cup of cream.
  10. Serve on plate, immediately before serving. Add the gravy on the plate, then add some cilantro, coriander leaves and some broken cashew nuts.
  11. To finish of your dish, add a few malai kofta’s on top of the gravy.
  12. Serve with rice and naan to complete your meal.
