Dr Mahesh Ramalingam qualified his MBBS from Madras Medical College, Chennai, India in Dec 1997 and relocated to the UK in 2001. He has worked in various different specialties and has wide experience to provide holistic care to his patients. He came to Dapto Medical Centre in 2017 and has now settled down at the medical centre as a family physician with his wife and two children. His special interests are chronic disease management including, diabetes, COPD, asthma, gastrointestinal disorders, child and adolescent mental health, general adult and perinatal mental health, cognitive impairment and elderly care. He likes to focus on chronic disease prevention, promotes healthy lifestyle and believes in "prevention is better than cure" He has special interest in Indigenous health care and to focuses on prevention and management of chronic diseases and mental health in indigneous patients. He also does skin excision procedures of common skin conditions, cysts and ingrown toenails. He also has special interest in healthy lifestyle promotion and weight loss counselling and individualised care for weight loss and dietary management. He is interested in "early diagnosis of cancer" by following recommended national and international guidelines for early appropriate investigations for suspected cancer referrals. He provides holistic care in palliative care and end of life care. He is interested in teaching and training medical students and doctors in general practice training.
